This Gasconade County Naturalization Index covers the period 1837-1949. It has been carefully compiled by GCHS Archives & Records Center volunteers from paper documents and Circuit Court record books. The original records provide no more information than is found in this index.
The columns headed “Source & Film Roll #” and “Location” provide the location of the original record on loose paper or in a book and, in most cases, also provide the location of the record on microfilm. The originals are housed at the Archives & Records Center. The microfilm records from which photo copies can be made are also found at the Gasconade County Historical Society Archives & Records Center.
The “Type” column indicates whether the individual’s declaration of intention to become a U.S. citizen is recorded or the record of actual admission is being described. The “Origin” column provides the political entity to which the citizen-to-be denounced his or her sovereignty as a part of applying to become a U.S. citizen.
