Redbird is a village in the southwest part of Gasconade County. The first settler was Isaiah Bowen, who built a small log cabin with a stick chimney in March 1829. The first frame house was built by R.A. Bowen in 1887. The first merchant was L.D. Viemann, who had the first grocery. The first blacksmith was Charles Fort. The postmaster was F. H. Buschmann. J. Smith was the first school master in 1852. JR Brown was the first preacher.

Please come patronize our Bake Sale on Saturday, May 18 in front of the Archives & Records Center. The sale will begin at 10:00 A.M. There will be many delicious goodies as well as some great non-food items. All proceeds go to the Expansion project.
Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, 103 E. Jefferson, in Owensville. Country dance music provided by Doug Baumgartner and the County Line Band. There will be a silent auction and a raffle for a booze cart. The silent auction will include a 1913 Gasconade County Atlas and much more.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with the dance from 7-10 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $20 per person. This is a BYOB event, but the Society will have set ups and soft drinks, as well as snacks, for sale.
The evening’s proceeds will benefit the Gasconade County Historical Society's Archives expansion. Mark your calendars! Then put on your dancing shoes and join the fun!

AMERICAN PICKERS to Film in Missouri
The American Pickers are excited to return to Missouri! They plan to film episodes of The History Channel hit television series throughout Missouri in June, 2024.
AMERICAN PICKERS is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique “picking” on The History Channel. The hit show follows skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques.
Along the way, they want to meet characters with amazing stories and fun items. They hope to give historically significant objects a new lease on life while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way.
The American Pickers TV Show is looking for leads and would love to explore your hidden treasure. If you or someone you know has a unique item, story to tell, and is ready to sell...we would love to hear from you! Please note, the Pickers DO NOT pick stores, flea markets, malls, auction businesses, museums, or anything open to the public.
