Individuals, Families, and Organizations are cordially invited and encouraged to become a member of and enjoy the benefits provided by the Gasconade County Historical Society. Each type of membership and dues along with some benefits are listed below. You can also make a donation through our Store in the Other Items category. 

Society Purpose – The Society’s purpose is to promote an understanding and appreciation of the history and heritage of Gasconade County and to encourage and facilitate the collection, preservation, and accessibility of its cultural artifacts for the benefit and use of the general public. This is done through development and maintenance of a museum facility in Owensville for the preservation of artifacts, records, etc which illustrate and display the history and heritage of the area and through development and maintenance of an archives and historical library facility in Hermann for the conservation of public records and private papers from the area and for making those records accessible to the public. 

ANNUAL Membership with calendar year dues as follows: 

  • Individual -- $20

  • Family (more than one in household) -- $30

  • Civic or Service Organization -- $30

  • Corporate or Business -- $50

LIFE Membership (one time payment for lifetime):

  • Individual -- $150

  • Family (more than one in household) - $250

  • Corporate or Business - $500

Benefits of Membership

  • Receipt of the quarterly Newsletter which includes articles of local historical interest as well as current information about the Society and its activities.

  • Reduced fees/costs for copies of documents/papers and for help provided by the staff in your research of county and family histories and public records.

  • Pride in supporting the Gasconade County Historical Society facilities & purpose.

Society Support – The Society is funded and supported by membership dues, financial contributions (tax deductible) from individuals and organizations, fund raising projects, limited state and county grants, volunteer help by individuals and contributions of historical artifacts and documents relating to the area.

Foundation - Also the Gasconade County Historical Society (GCHS) FOUNDATION has been established to provide investment income to help assure the long term future of the Society. Life memberships, memorial walkway bricks purchased, gifts in memory or honor of family members or others, Bequests and any financial gift so designated are encouraged and provide needed increases to this Foundation.

Each of these methods of support is much appreciated and necessary to enable the Society to continue achieving its purpose. The Society is an IRS 501 (C) (3) organization. 

Individual contributions of public company stock and automatic debit to a bank account (contact us for easy to do instructions) as well as cash contributions are tax deductible and most welcome. 

Also, individual planned giving by way of wills, trusts, or other charitable methods that name the Society as beneficiary is most welcome and, unless designated for a different purpose, will be placed in the GCHS Foundation which has been established to assure the Society’s future. All contributions will be appropriately recognized and include any donor wishes.
